Job Description

BASIC PURPOSE:

The individual participates as an important member of Guam Radiology Consultant’s MRI Team to address and resolve broad administrative issues such as patient scheduling, patient and staff safety, workflows, operational monitoring, regulatory compliance and the overall timeliness and quality of services provided to patients in MRI Centers.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

  • Responsible for screening patients or obtaining necessary medical information that are required based on established protocols.

  • Responsible for assisting patients with completion MRI Safety Forms prior to MRI exam

  • Schedule, confirm and reschedule patient appointments for MRI Examinations. Coordinates exams with clinical staff when needed.

  • Obtain, enter, and update all patient information, in the patient electronic records to maintain accuracy for scheduling and billing purposes.

  • Obtain and upload insurance verification eligibility via insurance portals when needed.

  • Responsible in providing patients preparation, pre-operative, medication and/or other instructions that are required based on established protocols.

  • Maintaining and updating a 24-hour patient list for follow up, assuring patients are promptly scheduled with no delays.

  • Maintaining and returning all phone messages within the departments, assuring prompted response to patients with no delays.

  • Provide rapid response to incoming phone calls and assists with answering spillover phone calls and transferring to appropriate staff as needed

  • Develop and maintain current and relative knowledge of MRI Exams and GRC Scheduling Guidelines

  • Develop and maintain current and relative knowledge of third-party payer billing requirements.

  • Develop and maintain current and relative knowledge of Federal and State billing regulations and guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain current and relative knowledge of how to verify eligibility with various third-party payers.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILILTIES

  • Clerical and analytical ability to be self-sufficient in performing duties and maintaining confidential records.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in scheduling appointments, authorizations, verifying eligibility and posting charges.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in collecting co-payments and co-insurances

  • Communicates changes in operations such as schedule delays to their team members.

  • Produce the necessary reports needed by the various areas.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality regarding privileged patient information, which includes but is not limited to the patient’s medical condition, medical records, and demographic and financial information. Additionally, this includes maintaining and enforcing the confidentiality of information and/or knowledge of employees’ records, activities, and information about the organization which may be acquired through normal work duties or by accident and may be considered as sensitive or confidential.

  • Ensure compliance with all HIPAA and OSHA policies and procures.


ENVIRONMENTAL AND SAFETY FACTORS

  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long period of time.

  • Exposed to and must interact with patients who are of diminished mental capacity, incarcerated and physically handicapped.

Knowledge and Skills:


Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent


Experience: Experience in Medical Field (e.g. Medical Billing, Scheduling) Preferred


Skills and Abilities: Must possess strong customer service skills, be proficient in use of PC and Windows OS, familiar with Medical Terminology, CPT & ICD10 Coding, able to communicate in a professional manner. Should be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Must possess basic typing skills to input various data into the RAMSOFT system. Must be familiar with all equipment and processes needed to complete duties.

Hours Required: Normal department operations are Monday – Friday 8:00am – 9:00pm, Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Emergency work hours occasionally needed to satisfactorily complete job duties.


License/Certificates/Agreements: Non-Disclosure & Non-Solicitation Agreement, Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification


Compensation: Non-Exempt Hourly Position, Full-Time Benefits (if eligible)
