
Job Description
The Health Unit Coordinator serves as a resource of communication link for all physicians, patients, departments, and GRC employee personnel, visitors, etc., regarding the overall daily operations of the Nurse Station. They are responsible for but not limited to: performing triage functions, entering patient demographics into the RAMSOFT system, greeting/ assisting patients during office visits, and receiving incoming telephone calls in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.

Essential Daily Functions (90%):
Telephone Operations
Facilitate incoming phone calls
Contact referring physicians upon radiologist request
Fax reports to providers upon request, if available. If not available, take the following steps/measures to get it available for the providers
Contact the Post Processing Department
Assign and call Radiologist to read exam when post processing is done
Contact MT to type out report
Call appropriate supervisor or personnel to sign off reports
Confirm receipt of radiology report by requesting provider
Confirm receipt of abnormal radiology report by requesting provider
Transfer phone calls to proper departments
Take messages for various departments when unavailable to take calls
RAMSOFT System
Monitor modalities in Ramsoft to make sure that exams are in proper status
Monitor STAT exams and PPD+ exams to make sure it's pushed through the system and read for same day service
Contact outside facilities to follow up on exams that are sitting on completed status for proper paperwork. (ie: referrals and demos)
Assign exams (Old or New) to radiologist or performing radiologists for interpretation. Monitor, follow-up, document and contact patients in ordered status for x-ray
Enter exams into Ramsoft when needed or upon radiologist request
Assist with scheduling if needed
Retrieve and facilitate referrals for in-house when needed
Patient Care
Address patient requests, concerns or complaints
Administer pregnancy tests to patients who are unsure if they are pregnant
Assist patients in recovery rooms when needed
Assist wheelchair bound patient to and from their vehicles if needed
Monitor and keep hallway clear of congestion for patient privacy
Provide medical excuse notes to patient or their escorts
Provide medical certificates to patient with limitation or restriction for work
Provide and generate referrals to patients being referred outside our facilities
Obtain prior reports or imaging from outside facilities upon radiologist request
Coordinate appointments for patients being referred outside the facility for further care and evaluation
Clinical Support
Call Radiologist when he technologists request for them for their procedures
Assist staff with patients when needed
Assist all staff with concern related to Radiologist readings
Cover from desk at various departments, when needed.
Others
Assist and address other facilities and their provider concerns, requests or complaints.
Facilitate, assist or generate new forms for clinic to use, upon request.
Assist patient with Australian VISA or New Zealand clearance for proper processing and documentations (designated staff member)
Assist with PPD clearance for work or school (designated staff member)
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (10%):
Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in Customer Services in a clinical setting preferred.
SKILLS:
Must possess strong customer service skills, be proficient in use of PC and Windows OS, familiar with Medical Terminology, CPT Codes, able to communication in a professional manner.
Should be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must possess basic typing skills to input various data into the RAMSOFT system.
Must be familiar with all equipment and processes needed to complete duties.
