Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Scheduling Supervisor and Manager, the Medical Scheduler is responsible and accountable for key activities associated with the scheduling system. Serves as a liaison for external and internal clinical contacts. Must be able to operate a multi-line phone system and provide excellent customer service to patients and clinical staff. Responsible for gathering information and screening patients over the phone, obtaining, and verifying necessary referrals, lab results, prior authorizations, demographics, insurance information and verification. Candidates must have a pleasant speaking voice, professional mannerisms, good computer skills and work well in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule, confirm and reschedule patient appointments for all procedures. Coordinates exams with clinical staff when needed.
Maintains and updates current information for all Providers, Technologist and CRNA schedules ensuring that Patients are scheduled properly.
Obtain, enter, and update all patient information, in the patient electronic records to maintain accuracy for scheduling and billing purposes.
Obtains all required information/documents for scheduled exam and procedure; may require verification and clarification by contacting referring providers.
Obtains all necessary Laboratory Result for scheduled exams and procedures.
Obtain and upload insurance verification eligibility via insurance portals when needed.
Responsible for providing patients preparation, pre-operative, medication, and/or other instructions that are required based on established protocols.
Maintaining and updating a 24-hour patient list for follow up, assuring patients are promptly scheduled with no delays.
Maintaining and returning all phone messages within the departments, assuring prompted response to patients with no delays. Manage call volume in a timely and professional manner.
Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Understand and support the department policies and procedures.
SKILLS:
Previous experience in a similar work environment
Must have basic knowledge of CPT codes and ICD 10 Codes
Strong phone, verbal, and written communication skills along with active listening
Customer focus and adaptability to different personality types
Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively
Capability to run a second monitor
Minimum typing of 30 wpm is required

8-hour Shift; 40 hours per week
Day Shift
Monday to Friday; Saturdays
Work Week: Monday-Friday (7:00AM-4:00PM, 8:00AM-5:00PM or 9:00AM-6:00PM)Weekend Work Required: Flexibility to work every other Saturday (7:00AM-12:00PM or 8:00AM-1:00PM)
